Position Title: Event Course Marshal
Type: Part-Time, Volunteer
Location: Perth, Australia
Reports To: Event Manager

Position Overview:

The Event Course Marshal will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and fair operation of the Aussie Open Disc Golf Event. This position involves overseeing the course during the event, enforcing rules, and ensuring player safety and sportsmanship. It is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about disc golf to contribute to a world-class event while gaining valuable experience in event management and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Course Monitoring:
    • Patrol the course to monitor player conduct and ensure adherence to event rules and regulations.
    • Identify and address any issues or disputes that arise during play, reporting major incidents to the Event Manager.
  • Player Assistance:
    • Provide players with information and assistance as needed.
    • Help maintain a safe and fair playing environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including crowd control and emergency procedures.
    • Monitor course conditions and report any hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Logistics Support:
    • Assist with the setup and breakdown of course equipment and signage.
    • Help manage the flow of players and spectators around the course to minimize disruptions and delays.
  • Communication:
    • Serve as a point of contact between players, officials, and event staff.
    • Relay important information and updates to players and spectators.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of disc golf rules and regulations.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Physical ability to walk the course and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Previous experience in event management or as a course marshal is a plus, but not required.
